Engineering specifications, performance data, and manufacturing capabilities

Material Performance & Specifications
What are the engineering advantages of fiberglass composite over solid wood construction? +
Fiberglass composite doors outperform solid wood in dimensional stability, moisture resistance, and thermal insulation. Our LVL structural core delivers load-bearing capacity exceeding 2,000 lbs with zero deflection, while the CFC-free polyurethane foam core achieves R-values of 5.0+. Unlike wood, fiberglass won't warp, crack, or require frequent repainting under UV or humidity exposure.
What thermal performance specifications do your door systems achieve? +
Our door systems achieve R-values of 5.0 to 15.6, depending on core thickness and configuration. U-factor ratings range from 0.17 to 0.22, and all systems meet or exceed Energy Star requirements for California climate zones.
What impact resistance and structural load ratings are certified for your door systems? +
Terran Build doors are rated to Class III impact resistance standards. STC ratings range from 26 to 32 depending on glass configuration.
How do your doors perform in extreme coastal and high-UV environments? +
Our systems are tested to withstand coastal salt exposure, UV radiation, and thermal cycling from -40°F to 180°F. Zero callback rate on 240-unit coastal multi-family installation projects validates field performance.
Installation & Technical Specifications
What are the critical installation requirements and rough opening specifications? +
Rough opening should be 2" wider and 1" taller than the door unit. Sill must be level to within 1/8" over the door width.
What hardware preparations and options are available for specification? +
All doors include standard 2-1/8" bore for locksets, hinge preparations for 4" ball-bearing hinges. Hardware finishes available: Mill, Bronze, and Brushed Nickel.
What frame and threshold materials are recommended for different applications? +
Composite frames are standard and recommended for all climates. Aluminum threshold with thermal break for coastal and high-precipitation regions.
Lead Times & Order Processing
What are current production lead times for standard catalog products? +
Standard catalog products in-stock ship within 5–10 business days. Made-to-order: 3–4 weeks. Custom sizes and finishes: 6–8 weeks from confirmed order.
What scheduling considerations apply to volume orders exceeding 100 units? +
Volume orders of 100+ units receive dedicated production scheduling. We recommend 90-day advance notice for orders exceeding 500 units.
What shipping methods and freight considerations apply to door system orders? +
All door systems ship via LTL freight on custom-built pallets. White glove delivery available in California markets.
Custom Design & OEM Partnerships
What is the engineering process for custom panel design and tooling development? +
Custom panel development begins with CAD specification review, followed by prototype tooling fabrication (8–12 weeks), sample validation, and production release. MOQ for new tooling is 100 units over the first year.
What private label and OEM manufacturing capabilities are available? +
Full private label capabilities include custom packaging design, product marking, and documentation under your brand. MOQ for private label programs is 200 units/year.
What qualifications and volume commitments are required for authorized distributor status? +
Authorized distributors commit to a minimum annual purchase of 50 standard units and complete our technical training program. Net 30/60 terms available upon credit approval.
